Ballet Dancer

Natalia Alexandra

My name is Natalia Retzloff and I am an artist, dancer, teacher, creative director, coach, blogger, business owner, and choreographer all based in the beautiful state of Michigan. After being trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance for over twenty years, I was introduced to modern dance while at college. I won my first choreography competition in 2016 with my original work Shattered Reflections, and since then, choreography has consumed my life in the current performing arts industry.

Natalia Alexandra Choreography was founded in 2019 and later established in 2022 as an LLC. This organization was born out of the residual effects of the pandemic that we faced in 2020. It served as my life line for my creativity during such a rough time when the performing arts world was in shambles. NAC is a labor of dedication, love, talent, and passion that has helped shape the lives of many dancers and teachers. The mission statement "Where Creativity Knows No Bounds" is a quote that was selected to help develop and further enforce my personal artistic vision. Choreography has always been my passion, and I have the urge to continue to grow as a dancer, artist, teacher, and choreographer. I am always looking for opportunities to share my artistic vision and leave my mark with other dance companies around the U.S.

My choreographic voice is heavily inspired by great names such as: Dwight Rhoden, Christopher Wheeldon, William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Jae Man Joo, Aljandro Cerrudo, Lauren Lovette, Alonzo King, Paul Lightfoot, Maria Konrad-Reach, Sol Leon, and Norbert De La Cruz III. My ongoing choreographic investigation involves the dance styles of classical ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. My movement requires the technique and control of classical ballet, but moves with a freedom that contemporary and modern dance provide. I am constantly wanting to push the boundaries of the dance world as we know it. My work ranges from full-length classical ballets, contemporary ballet, neoclassical work, and hard hitting contemporary with Lester Horton and  Jose Limon influences.

While I deeply value the idea of abstraction, I strive to take the elements of humanity and further showcase them in a inspiring but thought provoking manor. Most of my work deals with ongoing topics that we are facing in the world today. My hope is to continue inspiring the next generation to take risks, push boundaries, and reinvent what dance means to them.
